Norton wrote several other technical manuals and introductory computing books. Eight editions of this bestseller were published, the last in 1999. Norton's first computer book, Inside the IBM PC: Access to Advanced Features & Programming (Techniques), was published in 1983. The publisher called him and asked him if he wanted to write a book. A publisher saw his pamphlets, and saw that he could write about a technical subject.
Norton marketed the program (primarily on foot) through his one-man software publishing company, leaving behind little pamphlets with technical notes at users group meetings and computer stores. Its 1982 introduction of the Norton Utilities included Norton's UNERASE tool to retrieve erased data from DOS disks. The company was a pioneer in DOS-based utilities software. In 1982, he founded Peter Norton Computing with $30,000 and an IBM computer. His friends were delighted with the program and he developed a group of utility programs that he sold – one at a time – to user groups. Rather than re-enter the data, as most would have, he decided to write a program to recover the information from the disk. After he was laid off during an aerospace industry cutback, he took up microcomputer programming to make ends meet. When the IBM PC made its debut in 1981, Norton was among the first to buy one. This foreshadowed his personal computer work, where he became known as a knowledgeable author of low-level system utilities and reference books. His earliest low-level system utilities were designed to allow mainframe programmers access to a block of RAM that IBM normally reserved for diagnostics. Before he became involved with microcomputers, he spent a dozen years working on mainframes and minicomputers for companies including Boeing and Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He attended Reed College in Portland, Oregon, graduating in 1965. * If anyone is familiar with using Restore Images can you please help me out.Norton was born in Aberdeen, Washington, and raised in Seattle. My next idea is to do another Ghost Image Restore, and remove Norton antivirus first, then re-install it and see if that helps things.

Please keep in mind this only happens after I install new software and/or Microsoft Critical Secruity updates. The Blue Screen goes by so quick I can't read it. If I rescan with Norton my PC restarts and I get a blue screen.

If I install anything new, then perform a Full System Virus Scan, Norton scans every file, but when its finished it says it only scanned 95 files because not all of Nortons files loaded or are missing. The Anitvirus works fine if I don't install any new programs. Here is what I don't understand, I have Norton Antivirus 2005. Also if 100% free of dust and does not over heat. My PC was bare bones when I made the Ghost Image. I did a virus scan and a Spyware and adware scan withAd-Aware/Spybot and Spysweeper.

At the time I created the Ghost Image(1/8/05) I had all the current Microsoft updates at the time minus SP2 and all my video/audio/hardware(mouse) drivers were up to date. After I perform a System Restore using Norton Ghost 9.0 my computer works great and is stable.
